Javornik wants to show their best game in front of the home crowd
After winning a MEVZA Zonal Event in Innsbruck in 2023 and the Slovenian National Championship title for the third time in a row just days ago, Živa Javornik and Maja Marolt set their sights on the Middle European Beach Volleyball Championship in Kranj. According to Javornik, their wish is to reach the podium again, but the main goal is to show their best game in an indescribable atmosphere of the central court.
After winning the MEVZA Zonal event in Innsbruck, what are your goals for Kranj?
The goal for the Middle European Championship in Kranj is primarily to show our best game in front of the home crowd. Our big wish is, of course, to step onto the podium again, but the competition will be strong. We know that Tjaša Kotnik and Tajda Lovšin registered, as well as Špela Morgan and Anja Maček. We know most of the teams, and we have played against many of them before. I assume that the tournament will be very tough and that there will be some very interesting matches.
You’ve had success in tournaments Kranj before. Does the venue suit you?
We won our first national championship in Kranj. Standing on the podium and playing in front of so many spectators, family, and friends is something incredible. The atmosphere offered by the central court in Kranj is indescribable. If I wish for anything, it is to play in front of so many spectators at this venue again. I am very much looking forward to the MEVZA tournament in Kranj.

What are the main events of your season?
Our main goal for the season was to defend our national championship title, which we just achieved. Another goal was the Middle European Championship in Kranj and reaching the highest possible ranking there. We are aiming for the podium, but we don’t want to put pressure on ourselves; we primarily want to show our best game. Additionally, we will participate in tournaments in Innsbruck and Ičići.
How are preparations going? Are you in good shape and healthy?
At the beginning of the season, there were a few minor injuries, but now everything is in perfect order. After the national championship, we will take a few days off, but generally, we are in good shape. We are ready to prove ourselves in front of our home fans.
